The RAE (Research Assessment Excercise) is carried out by the British Government to rate the research quality of Britain's universities
It was carried out in 2001 and it is a good tool for International Students

Remember this assessment rates the quality of research at a university, not the quality of teaching. However even for taught students it is a god guide to a university's quality
