University of Arts Foundation Course
Your Question我是2006年的高中应届毕业生,想到英国学习Interior and Spatial Design.希望将来能上University of the Arts London攻读本科.但基本上没有美术基础,只是热爱,所以不能提交作品集.请问哪所学校的关于Art&Design的Foundation course比较好?并且它的Offer会被University of the Arts London接受?
I graduated from High school in 2006, and want to study Interior and Spatial Design in UK. I wish to get a Bachelor's degree in the University of the Arts London, but I have not studied art before and so do not have a Portfolio of work. I want to know which university has a good foundation course in Art & Design, and will be accepted by the University of the Arts London? By the way, how about foundation course of Art & Design in Chichester College? Will it be accepted by University of the Arts London? Which one will be better for studying Interior and Spatial Design in my future years? The University of Arts has many Foundation courses however they are not suitable for you because to apply to them you already need a portfolio of work.
Even UK students who want to study a Bachelor degree in the University of Arts (UoA) usually need to complete this extra Foundation year after their High School graduation.
There is only one suitable course for you at UoA and it is the Fashion Portfolio, see:
http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/courses/further_education/fashion_portfolio.htm
This course does not require a portfolio, you spend one year on this course making a portfolio, at the end you can be accepted on to a Foundation course or quite likely on to a Bachelor degree - it depends on how good your portfolio is - but this is only for Fashion Courses.
The University does accept students from other universities' Foundation courses - if you are accepted or not does not depend on the quality of your university it depends on the quality of your portfolio - if it is good you can be accepted.
You might want to ask Chichester if they have ever had a student go from their Foundation to the University of Arts (UoA) - don't worry you can ask them his question.
Apart from that, probably the best Art & Design school with a foundation course is Nottingham Trent University, see:

The UoA will have a Foundation Course in Beijing for students without a Portfolio but I am afraid it does not begin until Autumn 2008. You can find details at: http://www.arts.org.cn/ . Also, after completing this course you will still have to do a Foundation Course in London (just like UK students do) and so the Bachelor degree takes 4 years.
