Your Question

I major in English, after four-year's study in a not famous chinese university, I have began my career in a college as an English teacher in a small city in china. For this moment, I plan to further my MA study in UK as my first consideration. My IELTS examination will be taken in September this year. Would you give me some advice for which universities should I apply as the best choice? By the way, I won't change my major for I like it so much, so what kind of MA studying orientation should I choose?

The Answer

I would recommend choosing from one of the many Masters degrees in Teaching English or one of the general Masters degrees in Education. If you use our course search you can find suitable courses, please enter the following:

I have studied: Language and I want to study Education & English

This will show you all the courses available to you. Some courses are called MA TEFL or MA EFL - this means Teaching English as (in) a Foreign Language. Some of these course require 2 years teaching experience, others need just a short time of teaching experience and others need no teaching experience. If you click on the course name you will find the exact requirement (and cost of each course).

Or you can consider a general MA in Education.

Use our course search to find the courses you like (you can find all the universities websites on our website as well).

How were your grades at university? If they were around 80% most universities will except you. It is easier to be accepted for a teaching degree than for a Business degree. The following universities usually require you to come from a famous Chinese university (Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial, Bristol) but the others are more flexible.
