The Answer
In the UK degrees are graded like this:
A = 1st class
B = 2nd class, division 1 (written as 2.1 or 2.i)
C = 2nd class, division 2 (written as 2.2 or 2.ii)
D = 3rd class
E = Pass
F = Fail
A second class degree is either a 2.1 or a 2.2. Most universities compare Chinese degrees like this:
A = +85%
B = + 80%
C = +75%
D = +70%
So if they ask for a 2nd class degree your average score must be at least 75%. If they ask for a 2.1 degree your score must be at least 80%.
It is an old, traditional system that all universities use but it is not very simple to understand.
Some universities will also say you need to come from a well-known Chinese university and this usually means a university in the 211 project.
