Your Question

I have received 2 admission letters, the first one came from University of Loughborough, and the major is International Banking MSc and the second one was from Royal Holloway, London University, and the major is Finance & Industial Economics. Now I don't know how to make my decision, I really don't know which one is better, so I wonder if there are any suggestions for me.

The Answer

Here are some facts to help you consider:

University Ranking (The Times)

Loughborough 6; Holloway 12

Economics Department Rating

Loughborough 3a; Holloway 4 (out of a maximum of 5)

Number of Chinese Students

Loughborough has 811 Chinese students, this is 6.1% of their total number of students. For postgraduate study 577 students are from Mainland China and this is 20.3 % of all postgraduate students (amongst the highest of any university).

Holloway has 373 Chinese students, this is 6.3% of the total number of students. For postgraduate study 104 students are from Mainland China and this is 9 % of all postgraduate students.

So both universities have a very high rating and both are considered prestigious by British people. Holloway is a part of the University of London and therefore it is probably considered more prestigious in Britain. But Loughborough is probably more well-known in China (because of its high number of Chinese students).

Loughborough has more Chinese students but it is up to you to decide if this is a good or bad thing - some students do not like it but others do.

Loughborough is in the middle of England it is a campus university, most famous for being the UK's centre for sports. It is a small town.

Holloway is on the edge of London, it is one of the most beautiful campuses in Britain. If you like big city life than Holloway is a better choice.

Well, I hope these facts are helpful to you in making your decision. If you have more questions please ask.
