If you have studied A-levels the entry requirements are quite clear. Every course lists the A-level scores it requires to be accepted. To do Medicine you need 3 A's. To do Business at a top university you need B Grades. To do Science and Engineering, C grades are ok to be accepted by the top universities. If you check the websites or prospectuses of the each university you can find the exact requirement for each course. Sometimes you can be accepted if your scores are slightly below the printed requirement.
