Journalism 新闻学
A degree in Journalism is not a requirement for a career in Journalism but it can help. Not many British universities offer this subject but there are some very good courses available. Most accept students from any first-degree background but they are popular and therefore competitive and it is important you can prove 2 things in your applications:
- You have very good English, and excellent writing ability (many look for IELTS 7.0)
- A commitment to Journalism: this could include experience of writing on a campus newspaper/newsletter, or social research experience (e.g. have you ever called people or interviewed them in the street for the purpose of a school project).
During your course you will be able to tailor your study according to your future goals. When you graduate you will have many career paths open to you, including:
- Newspaper Journalist/Reporter
- TV Journalist/Reporter
- Web Journalist/Reporter
- Embassy Cultural Sections
- Public Relations
