The University of Bedfordshire is the largest higher education institution in the county and lies just 30 miles north of London. It has a reputation for being one of Britain’s most innovative universities and is currently undergoing a major £45 million expansion.
(The Sunday Times): Applications are up sharply this year with a rise double the national average. This follows a 60% jump in undergraduate recruitment last September and a personal endorsement in 2003 from the then education secretary, Charles Clarke, who described the teaching as “bloody brilliant”. Ten subjects rated excellent for teaching put it above all modern universities when expressed as a proportion of the total number of subjects assessed.
Areas rated excellent (10) Anatomy and physiology; art and design; building; communication and media studies; molecular biosciences; nursing; organismal biosciences; pharmacology and pharmacy; psychology; subjects allied to medicine.
