International students choosing a British High school should ask:

- Is the school mixed, or only for boys or girls?
- Is the school religious?
- What recent investment has the school had?
- What grades do students achieve and how many go to the top universities?
Actually almost all boarding school are high quality (because they charge such high fees) but if you want to judge how good a school is the 2 best ways are using The Times Ranking and in comparing what universities the students go to. A long history is also usually a good indicator of excellence.
You can choose what subjects you want to study from a very large list. You must choose at least 3 subjects but some students choose 4 or even 5. Although you can take any subject the most popular amongst Chinese students are: Business Studies, Economics, Maths, Physics and Chemistry. The courses you take will restrict your choice of undergraduate major, for example, if you want to do Medicine at university you should take the 3 sciences (Biology, Physics & Chemistry). However you do not need to confirm your subjects until you start at the school so do not worry about this now.
