The MA in Translation Studies is designed for practising translators, linguists, and anyone interested in translation as an area of study. The long term goals of the course are to enable you to develop an understanding of current theoretical thinking on translation and linguistic theory, in particular as it relates to the practice of translation, and to improve your translating skills. Detailed Entry Requirements To be admitted to one of the CELS MA programmes you should have a university degree. Normally, this will be a '2.1' in the UK system, or a GPA score of 3.5 or over in the American system. We will also consider equivalent scores from other countries. Candidates whose first language is not English are required to have one of the following: ?TOEFL score of 580 ('paper' test) or 237 (computerised test) or more ?IELTS score of 6.5 or more ?UCLES (Cambridge) Proficiency grade C or above ?An English Language examination pass at an equivalent level to the above which is recognised by the University of Birmingham.
