Previous course MSc Human Resource Management MSc International Employment Relations & HRM Next course

Run jointly by LSE and Peking University, this new double MSc degree offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate students & young professionals.
The first year is spent at the School of International Studies at Peking University, studying the international relations of China and the Asia Pacific region. The second year is spent at LSE, studying the theory and history of global international relations.

At LSE, students take core courses in both the International Relations and the International History Departments, take a third course from the wide range of options offered by the two departments, and complete the programme with a dissertation on a relevant topic.

At Peking University, the students take a core course on Chinese Politics and Diplomacy and can select other courses among the wide variety on offer in the School of International Studies. Students can choose among courses taught in English and in Chinese. They complete the First Year programme by writing a dissertation on a topic relevant to their studies. The dissertation can be written in English or in Chinese.

The programme provides an excellent preparation for careers in academia, business or consulting, government or international agencies, the media, politics and law.

It's an interesting course.
Is it possible to be a diplomat after graduation?

Hi kunkun

This is what LSE say:

"The programme provides an excellent preparation for careers in academia, business or consulting, government or international agencies, the media, politics and law"

I think if you want to study an MSc and also work in diplomacy this is great course for any British or Chinese people. But it can't guarantee you a position in government

This is a great course and that's a good question so we will contact the people at Beijing University (PKU) to see if they can tell us about employment prospects for students in China.

Stay tuned

 LSE MSc International Affairs
OK, so we called Tian Tian at PKU, she was very helpful but told us that, as this course only began last year, they do not yet have any graduates so they cannot give us details about graduate employment.

Some interesting details about the course are: there are around 20 students on the course and 8 are Chinese.

Although we cannot say how likely it is that this course can secure you a job in government, one thing is for sure the job prospects of graduates from LSE are always very bright particularly in the field of IB (Investment Banking)

This course sounds incredible and exactly what I've been searching for...would I be able to get in touch with a current student to get an 'inside view'? The info seems to be scarce so far . How can I maximize my chances?

Hi caffeinead

There is only one class so far (the current one) so there aren't too many students to get in contact with, you could try contacting the course director to see if they can help (email listed above)
