Note: This programme was originally called MBA (International Banking and Finance) MBA in Global Banking and Finance is a unique programme offered by the Business School of one of Britain's most prestigious universities, The University of Birmingham. This MBA programme has been specifically designed for graduates who aspire to develop careers in international banking and finance. The programme aims to improve management and technical skills by focusing on key areas such as international banking, banking regulation and supervision, risk management, strategic management of financial institutions, international financial markets, portfolio investment, fund management, security markets regulation and private equity & venture capital finance. The programme includes core modules and optional modules. Apart from the taught element of the programme, students have the opportunity to attend talks delivered by practising managers and senior executives from some of the world's leading banks and finance houses. Students will have opportunities to interact, discuss their career related issues and gain valuable insights into the working of these prestigious institutions. A compulsory requirement of the programme will provide further opportunity to students to conduct a supervised in-depth study of a specific topic relevant to their area of interest leading to the writing of a dissertation. As a part of induction, all students attend a personal development course at Birmingham University's outdoor pursuits centre at Coniston in the picturesque Lake District. MBA (GBF) attracts highly qualified and experienced students from a variety of cultures and nationalities and is highly rated by students wanting to specialize in banking and finance. The programme is recognized by the Association of MBAs (AMBA). Detailed Entry Requirements MBA (GBF) is an intensive, full time, twelve month programme and runs from October to September. Prospective applicants are required to have as a minimum a second class degree in a relevant discipline, at least three years of working experience in banking or finance at a supervisory level and strong English language ability. Those applicants who do not meet the requirements for direct entry to the one year MBA (GBF) programme have the option of applying for the twenty four month programme.
