Snow for Chinese Delegation

February 13, 2007

A group of Chinese visitors encountered snow for the very first time during a visit to the University of Glamorgan this month.

The University was chosen as the only Higher Education institution in Wales to be visited by a delegation of Chinese educational recruitment agents as part of their visit to the UK.

The group of 44, many of whom had never been to the UK before, were accompanied by members of the British Council China.

Spending a day on the University’s Treforest campus, the aim of the trip was to demonstrate the academic excellence of the University as well as the cultural aspects of studying in Wales.

Following their visit, the agents will be able to relay their experiences to prospective students who are considering becoming Glamorgan students.

Malcolm Taylor, Head of International Recruitment at Glamorgan commented, “We were delighted to be chosen to host this visit which has resulted in us being able to showcase exactly what Glamorgan has to offer. The day was enjoyed by all and our visitors particularly enjoyed the fact that the campus was covered in snow!

“This visit is an example of The British Council China’s commitment to raising the profile of UK education and to exploring maximum opportunities for partner institutions in the China market. As a consequence of this visit we have been able to forge new contacts as well as strengthening longstanding relationships with agents working in China.”
