Architecture 建 筑 学
Architecture is a specialist degree; it is not possible to study a conversion Architecture course. Generally speaking Architecture Bachelor degree students from China can enrol for a one-year Masters degree in the UK but you will have to submit a portfolio of your work upon application to ensure you are eligible.
Many courses are specialised (e.g. Architectural Computing Studies) and allow Architects to specialise in a certain area in your career. A Masters degree, however, is not essential to become a qualified Architect. Many universities offer Architecture courses but it is not offered by all.
The career prospects are very bright for graduates; be it self-employed; within an Architectural company; or working for the government. Most departments also have Masters degrees in Planning and or Urban Design and these courses are usually open to students from a wider range of backgrounds (but not all degrees, you will still require a design/planning background). Graduates enter employment in local government, architectural/building companies or specialised design companies. The prospects are generally good but less certain than that of an Architect. Many design students start their own company.
