Tourism 旅游学
In Britain Tourism is a postgraduate major that is usually open to graduates of any discipline. It is an increasingly popular specialisation amongst Chinese students. More and more international hotels and travel companies require a degree level qualification in Tourism/Hospitality and therefore, although it is not a required professional qualification, it is a common entrance to a career in this field.
It is a relatively new business specialisation and is therefore offered by not many universities in Britain.
As China opens its doors to foreign tour operators and as the 2008 Olympics near, the career prospects are good for quality tourism graduates. Hotels, tour companies or event companies will employ most graduates. Prospects for promotion within these organisations is usually good and jobs include:
- Hotel (pubic relations, communications, marketing, sales and management)
- Tour Operator (marketing, communications, sales and management)
- Event Companies (event organiser, public relations, marketing and management).
