minx 3/24 16:13Hi all,
Its been a year since I last posted but really really really appreciate any advise I can get from PG students from the uni's below (or students in general). Am a mature international student, have worked in the corporate sector for the last 7 years. Have sent in my applications for MA Political Communications. Applied to 5 but top 3 choices are: - Goldsmiths, University of London (pending) - Cardiff University (pending) - University of Stirling (unconditional offer made) * Insurance:- - University of Leeds (pending) - Royal Holloway, University of London.(pending) Ive been in contact with the head of the Int Office / Programme Directors for all the universities but most can only tell me about the programme, nothing really beyond the environment. The RAE rankings for media put my top 3 in the 5 to 5* bracket. In terms of fees most are similar except for Goldsmiths (living in London is more expensive!) Questions: 1) Am told that best place to practice the above communication policies or working for an int. firm/agency is London given(Whitehall/Westminster) vs that of the Welsh or Scottish parliments. Feedback anyone? 2) Can anyone tell me what their experiences are at the above universities, teaching, acccomodation, biggest surprises, letdowns, great stuff etc. 3) I live in a bustling city so thought I could escape and do my MA in peace with a lovely campus such as Cardiff (was my only choice until I was told about post employment issues or no networking opps). Goldsmiths doesnt really have a campus and I've been trawling the forums, its either negative, students are horrid about teaching staff, amenities or they say environment is stuff. Feedback if any? Given the emails Ive been getting from the Programme Directors I do think I'll get in the other 2 selected so Im in quite the quandry. Have I forgotten to consider anything else? So sorry to ramble on but its been on my mind alot...(sigh!) Thank you all so very much! |
